Well, last year was hands down the best year of my life.  My darling baby girl was born on November 30th on what was probably the coldest day of the year.  She has stirred some feelings in me that I didn't even know existed.  One of those being the ten ton weight of knowing I am going to be the number one female role model and influence in her life...well, until she becomes a teenager! So, I need to stand tall and model what I expect...to follow your dreams.

Decorating was probably in my blood since birth and I just didn't recognize it.  I can remember my mother dragging me around to fabric stores, yard sales, antique stores, and the dreaded Pottery in Williamsburg...yep, all you locals know what I'm talking about, since I was old enough to walk.  I also have the fondest memories of my dad working in his workshop helping my mom restore some piece of junk, missing a leg that she dragged back to the house.  Dad, bless his heart, would somehow turn the junk into a treasure for mom.

Well, all that shopping must have made an impression, because since childhood I have enjoyed decorating every home I have ever lived...even the tiny two bedroom apartment I shared with two other girls in college! This blog is the creative outlet I have been looking for to share my ideas about interior design. I have a passion for decorating, antiques, repurposing, and DIY projects, and want to pass it on to you!

Let's go ahead and clear one thing up...repeat after me...home decor DOES NOT have to break the bank! I am going to show you a lot of tricks and techniques that I have used in the homes where I have lived to make the space looked pulled together. And the great news is that I plan to show you how to achieve a designer "look" on limited funds. I don't discriminate when it comes to decorating.  I scour flea markets, thrift shops, antique markets, CraigsList...you get the point... to find furnishings and accents.  I love the thrill of the hunt! Nothing is more satisfying than finding a treasure...a castaway, and reinventing it to incorporate into your home.

So, I have wanted to make a career out of home interior and design for awhile, and now it is time.  I need to stop worrying about whether or not I've got what it takes and just "take the plunge"! I hope you enjoy my posts! Please feel free to comment...I look forward to getting to know other people out there who feel the same as I do about their homes!

xoxo
